Happy Christmas. It’s Sunday afternoon and overcast in Orono, but it’s been a nice day with everyone. We had a lovely Christmas dinner and the Pumpkin Custard from Norman’s recipe is presently in the oven. I took all sorts of pictures of the pumpkin slaughter and custard production, so we’ll add it to the tutorials.
Anyway, the last two days brought two pieces of news:
On Friday evening, my mother found the obituary of a high school classmate, Leila Munson Dadmun. She passed away on Wednesday, after suffering from leukemia for a year and a half. She was my age, 33, married with a small son. I wasn’t a really close friend, and really hadn’t seen her since high school, but it’s almost surreal when someone dies so young.
And, in opposite news, my sister is pregnant. I’m going to be an aunt. Very cool. I hope she doesn’t have a lot of morning sickness. That can’t be too fun. :) |
