Flying a kite is fun. I know, kind of a silly way to start a blog post, but there is a point to this, not a children’s story. Ben and I dragged a kite all over Central America once, and never did actually fly it. People kept on asking us if it was (a) an umbrella, (b) a tent or (c) a fishing pole. Granted, it was in a nylon sleeve so people couldn’t exactly gauge the book by it’s cover. Since then, we jokingly call kites umbrellas, tents and fishing poles (as it “oh, go fly an umbrella!”). We even accidentally left it on a plane in Belize that year, and the pilot actually flew back to Placencia and delivered it to us. Anyway, kite flying…

Kite flying, however, fun enough to have a full-scale riot break out when the supreme court of Pakistan continues to ban it. Granted, this is more about religious freedom and the economic impact of the ban than the actual activity of kite flying, but nevertheless.
