The fog here in Tofino just won’t quit today. It started out as pea soup and now we’re at next to zero vis, but you know, that is ok.
We walked down to the Wick and back before breakfast, before heading out for a two hour paddle. That was a surreal experience (the kayaking, not the beach walking). The fog was thick, so it felt like you were paddling into complete nothingness. We stayed within shore-sight, which means we were never much further than 50 feet from shore. We went at slack-tide so there wasn’t much current.
On the way back to the launch (on the inside, for those of you who know Clayquot Sound, on Browning Passage), we were accompanied by a pad of 10 or so dolphins. They never got much closer than 30 yards away, but they seemed to hang around for a few minutes.
Oh, by the way, Ben has more pictures on his blog. |
