With such a beautiful morning — cool, crisp and very much autumny — and a new Canon in hand (yes, a huge splurge but a wonderful one!), I headed over to Mt. Auburn Cemetery this morning. I love that place. I could make it sound all deep and meaningful that I am walking on hallowed ground of some of America’s literary greats or find conviction in the ghosts of the founders of this country, but really I am just there for the cool headstones and the amazing fall colors. Mt. Auburn is full of Japanese Maples, which are the last to turn that beautiful shade of red. If I were more of an arborist, I would have written down all the unique species (each tree has its own name tag) but I didn’t do that either.

The rest are up here on Flickr.
Wow – gorgeous shots. I love the cemetery too.
